Life can get tricky, and I understand how speaking to someone about it may be difficult. Finding the right words to describe how you feel or what you have experienced can be challenging, and it should not be something that one should have to experience on their own. With my understanding that each individual has their own unique story and experiences, I tend to take a person-centred approach to counselling in which I alter my clinical skills to fit the needs and preferences of my client. I am attentive to each client's biological, environmental, and social factors and consider them when applying therapeutic approaches. My goal as a therapist is to ensure my clients leave their sessions with a stronger sense of self, a set of tangible skills, and a greater ability to communicate their needs and navigate their challenges.  My priority is to create a safe welcoming space for my clients so that they can feel understood, respected, and authentic without fear of judgment.

Get To Know Me Personally

  • I enjoy and prioritize going to the gym and moving my body as it provides me with a sense of calmness and increases my energy and well-being. I am a travel bug and always try to plan at least 1-2 trips a year to explore a new area around the world, whenever the opportunity permits. I am always interested in learning about and experiencing different cultures. I have recently started Pilates, something I never thought I would try and am enjoying it so far! I never knew how relaxing Pilates could be as it requires a lot of mindfulness and breathe work.

  • Throughout my childhood and adolescence and dealing with my own personal and lived experiences of mental health, I felt as though I had no one to talk to and that there were not enough resources available, better yet, there was an immense amount of stigma towards mental health. I wanted to make a change where I could be the one to advocate for others, and make them feel seen, understood, and appreciated.

  • Having a full-time job while completing my Master‘s degree. I understand how difficult it can be to be a student and have to support yourself simultaneously. The late-night studying after a full evening of work felt impossible at the time but ended up being my greatest accomplishment that has led me to where I am now.

  • I have always wanted to be a teacher. I hope to return one day to school to get my PHD and become a University Professor!

  • I am spending time with my family, friends, and cats! I tend to spend a lot of time listening to music and discovering new songs to add to my playlists! I enjoy listening to country music and old-school R&B.

  • You do not need a label or to have experienced something traumatic to be able to speak to someone about your feelings and experiences. Counselling is a space where you can unapologetically be yourself and express yourself, free of judgment. There is a lot of stigma in society today about discussing mental health, feelings, and emotions, and I would like you to know that what you are experiencing is valid and that you have every right to be here!

  • Listening to people’s personally lived experiences. I feel deep compassion and empathy for those who share their stories with me. I always tend to take a piece of what people share with me and apply it to my own life and practice.

  • Warm, non-judgmental, empathetic, easy-going, understanding, and patient.

  • The Sun Will Rise Again. Life can be tricky but just know that if you are experiencing a tough day, the sun will present us with a new day to try again.
