Isn’t it ironic that personal growth often begins with accepting yourself in the stuckness and discomfort of right now? Maybe that isn’t always true, but in my experience as a person and as a counsellor, it usually is. That’s what drew me to the counselling field in the first place; I have always been open-minded, curious about people, and gentle in how I treat and understand others. I’ve seen throughout my life how these qualities can be helpful for people, and it’s been an honour to be able to use them in a professional setting.
Therapy with me is person-centered – this means that you’re always in the driver’s seat, even though I might be holding the GPS for our journey. I also try to show up as a human first, and professional second, meaning I love to share some laughs in between the hard moments. If this approach sounds up your alley, I can’t wait to see where the road takes us together.

Good sleep, an evening on the couch, and a fierce game of tennis!

My dad, grandpa, and grandma were all counsellors when I was a kid – predictably, this made me run in the opposite direction and pursue a career in marketing before I accepted my fate.
Jokes aside, I think that my family environment naturally shaped me with a lot of interpersonal skills that serve me really well in this field. Ultimately, I care a lot about people and love using that trait every day.
-
I’m proud of my worldview. Anyone who grew up in a community with a rigid belief system knows that it can be hard, painful work to separate yourself and find your own path. Through that process, I discovered the importance of challenging my own beliefs and assumptions – something I continue to push myself to do every day.

A talk-show host. Now that I’m an adult, I can hardly imagine anything worse!

I have lots of interests, but the love of my life will always be music. I love to get home after a long day and put on a favourite album, or try listening to something I’ve never heard before. I remember getting my first ten-dollar MP3 player from Walmart when I was fourteen, and feeling like my third eye had opened - I’ve been chasing that feeling ever since.
-
All you have to do for your first session is show up. It’s okay if you don’t feel ready - entering new territory is usually scary and overwhelming. All you have to do is book and then arrive in whatever state you’re in. I would love to meet you exactly where you’re at, right now.
-
I love it when people tell me something that they didn’t think they’d ever tell anyone. What a rush! And what a relief when they find that my view of them hasn’t changed one bit.
-
Open-minded, relaxed, and genuine.

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I change.” – Carl Rogers
I love this quote because I spent a lot of my early twenties trying to force myself to change the parts of me that I didn’t like, with little success. It was no fun at all. And then later, when I began to accept and love myself for who I am now, growth suddenly felt a whole lot easier.
