Throughout my time as a counsellor, I have had the honour of working with people who have battled tremendous challenges and losses. Pain and suffering are inevitable parts of life that can leave people feeling broken, exhausted, and disconnected from themselves, others, and the world around them. When we lose touch with our values and goals - things that are important in life - we can feel lost and confused. My goal in counselling is to encourage your growth and walk alongside you as you learn to heal from suffering and trauma and regain control. I will help you to cultivate a sense of safety, connection, and self-compassion, and will support you to live the life you want to live. I have personal experience in some of the areas that I work with, and while I limit my own sharing and no two people have the same story, this can often help clients feel more understood. My hope, then, is to be able to foster a deeper sense of connection and share in your healing journey.

Becoming a counsellor was almost by “accident”. I was going through personal struggles in my younger years and found an amazing counsellor and support community who helped me find my way back on course. I wanted to pass on the gift that was given to me and began my journey of becoming a counsellor to be able to help others experience healing from difficult life experiences through a safe and caring therapeutic relationship.

Finding the determination to make a career change later in life. Although I have been a counsellor for many years, there is still trepidation about stepping out of my comfort zone in service to others

I’m spending time with my cat (“Kit”), enjoying some sunshine, and coffee with friends. I also collect vinyl records and have recently taken up doing puzzles.

Counselling can take on many shapes and forms. For some, it may just be time for a quick mental and emotional “tune-up”. For others, it may have been a long journey to arrive at counselling, with many struggles that will take time to work through. Demands on our time can overwhelm us, and we may feel lost and confused, detached from our values. Connecting with a qualified counsellor takes courage and strength, and I’m here to come alongside you on that journey. There are numerous reasons why a person may choose to speak with a qualified professional; everything from taking preventative measures to addressing a full-blown crisis. Whether you're in a season of life where you're looking for insight, need guidance in making a shift or transition, are hurting badly and feeling hopeless, or carrying a burden of past trauma and painful memories - counselling can help.
-
Learning from others and gaining new insights, whether from colleagues or from those I’ve had the privilege to help. I love not only witnessing the various stages of healing in the lives of clients, but also hearing the stories of those who share about their continued growth after counselling has finished. The therapeutic relationship is very unique in that way.
